Since my wife through her phone in a crapper on Saturday, I got her a new(yet temporary) phone. Its temporary because the Nexus Prime is rumored to release at the end of October/early November. She was setting it up, as you do with Android phones, and her favorite widget wouldn't work. It bugged out every time!. ITS A FREAKING WIDGET! It has nothing to do with display resolution or skins.
Anyways, I told her to just deal with it.
This problem goes away if you ALWAYS BUY A NEXUS BRANDED PHONE if this kind of thing bothers you.
